Why Yahoo Answers Failed?

By Ravi On August 18, 2009 Under List Building

This post is in continuation to my traffic goals. Last week I experimented with Yahoo Answers and found that the links on my answers are all no-follow. This is a lack of research on my part. I should have known about this before adding it to my plan for link building.

Don’t get me wrong, yahoo answers can be an excellent source of traffic by itself. But my current goal is to get top search engine ranking for a specific keyword. I had planned to generate some link juice using Yahoo Answers. But since all links are no-follow I have decided to not use Yahoo Answers at the moment.

Having said that I found a good post on 2 other services which are clones of yahoo answers and are do-follow.

If you are interested in finding out about these 2 services read this article on 2 Dofollow Clones of Yahoo Answers.

I will soon try out these services but in the mean time I have moved on to my next strategy which I will make a post on soon.

Based on my Analytics screenshot below I think I am on track to meet my traffic goals. Click on the image to see a larger image. As you can see I am averaging more then 10 unique visitors per day at the moment. Most of my traffic currently is from referring sites.

Yep that’s right and right now they won’t let you leave a living link unless your level 3 or 5. But I’ve read a blog where he claims that you can sell affiliate products since the traffic is targeted.

Ravi, it is true that Yahoo Answers are no follow. However, some people use tools to auto-fetch Yahoo answers and these links are sometimes no-follow. So, it might still be somewhat useful.

BTW, all of your comment links are no-follow right now too ;) Richard@How To Videos´s last blog ..How To Make Money On Amazon With the Amazon Affiliate Program My ComLuv Profile

@Richard@How To Videos,

You are right my comments have no-follow links. But Top Comments block as do-follow. If you comment consistently each month on my blog you will be rewarded with a do-follow link in Top Comments widget. If you know how top comments work then that means you have a do-follow link from every blog post on this blog.

You just have to be consistent with commenting.

Great article. There’s a lot of good info here, though I did want to let you know something - I am running Ubuntu with the circulating beta of Firefox, and the layout of your blog is kind of flaky for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesn’t work so well.
